Who, what, when, where, and why? In school we’re taught to use these 5 W’s in order
to tell a complete story. These five questions also help us gather information or solve a
problem. One day while scrolling through amazon.com, I ran across a book entitled, “Start With Why: How Great Leaders Inspire Everyone to Take Action” by Steven Sinek. Just the title alone, began to stir up curiosity in my spirit. Then I heard “What is your Why?”
Why is the cause, reason or purpose for all that we do. In life, why? Will be one of the
most important questions you’ll ever ask yourself. Even God had a why when He in all His splendor and glory created the world out of darkness. In Genesis 1, we can read about how
God formed all living things. And in the midst of creating God did something so amazing in
verse 26:
Genesis 1:26 says “Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our
likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth. So God created man in his own image; in the image of God he created him: male and female he created them.”
This verse is so powerful because out of everything that was created before man, God
did not see fit to express in his word that it was created in his image. If man was created in the image and likeness of God, then that means that God’s why for us in greater that we could ever image. So, what is your why? Take a few moments and let this question permeate in your heart and mind.
You weren’t just born. You were created. Your name wasn’t just words the rolled off of
your parents tongue. It doesn’t matter if a thousand women with your namesake exist on this earth. You and everything about you was divinely inspired by God.
Everything you do has purpose. Everything you do is for a reason. When you wake up
in the morning, your “why should be your motivation because God has something important for youtodo. That’s why, where you live, work, the family you were born into was all designed according to God’s purpose. Today, I want to encourage you to develop a fresh, “Why” statement for your life.
In your prayer time, ask the Holy Spirit to show you what your “why” is according to
God’s will for your life. This will align you to your purpose moving forward. Don’t take this for granted. Your “why” will be the motivation you need to do great things in this world. Let me be the fist to congratulate you my sister, your “why” is already inspiring and being a positive influence on someone else’s life, in your environment, and to this world.
